Research Paper Topics for High School Students
Research Paper Topics for High School StudentsFor high school students, finding good research paper topics is often a chore. In fact, it can even be a task to do alone because of the vast amount of available information in most college courses. If you've already gone through this, then you know what I'm talking about. But if you're still looking for topics for your research paper, here are a few ideas that may come in handy. You might consider choosing Broadway shows as your topic. Shows can usually provide good information about the time period in which they were produced and are thus a great topic for your research paper. For example, you could research which shows were made at which locations, how long the show ran, etc. Most shows have web sites where you can see pictures of the sets, costumes, props, and so on. And since they're all linked, it's easier to look up what you need online than if you went directly to the show website itself.A very popular Broadway show in the recent p ast was The Phantom of the Opera. Here, you'll find information about the costume styles worn by the actors, historical events in Europe at the time, and who actually played the Phantom. (Actually, most of the Phantom's scenes were shot on Broadway, but he did appear in London a few times). The Phantom was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and featured lots of music from other popular Broadway musicals. For a different type of research paper, look into the history of Broadway. On the whole, there has been an ongoing renaissance in Broadway, with new productions constantly being put on. Some of the best tickets are usually on the midnight runs when shows are re-scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances. Look at some of these performances online and you might be able to use some of the more popular shows as background on your research paper. There's a lot more to theater studies than you might think. For example, most shows don't spend a lot of time talking about the specific technical aspe cts of the show, such as lighting, sound, and stagecraft. This information is more complicated than you might think. Instead, most shows will have videos of their performances, interviews with the actors, background information on the themes of the show, an analysis of the characters, etc. If you can find these kinds of videos or audio interviews, you might be able to put them in your research paper to really get your point across.Another one of the more popular choices for research topics is celebrity gossip. The stories behind famous celebrities can often be incredibly entertaining, even for the layperson. You'll find many of the same stories in the news on a regular basis as well, but that doesn't mean they're not interesting. They can be quite revealing and entertaining, especially if you can find information from people who were around at the time of the story. It can be fascinating to read an interview with the famous person themselves and get a taste of the kind of personalit y that was front and center at the time.Probably the most difficult of all research paper topics is the science fiction genre. This is a genre that includes many works from many different artists. As such many of the original works never make it to the silver screen. However, some do, such as William Gibson's famous novel Neuromancer and its sequels. In fact, the author's essays have become famous for much of the same reason that movies like The Matrix have become popular: to explore concepts of consciousness and technology in different ways. These are only a few ideas you might want to consider. What topics would you consider? Which subjects did you skip because they seemed too difficult?
